Moon

A few days ago a friend recommended the movie Moon to me. I watching it and I have to say it's a really good movie. Sam Rockwell's performance was really impressive, but man I can't believe the movie didn't receive any recognition from the academy.. how disappointing. But anywho, go check it out and enjoy the voice of Kevin Spacey as GERTY the monotone robot!

Brain Twister

I've been playing with my yo-yo for almost a week now and I have to say this is some pretty addicting stuff. I have a few tricks I've learned on lock, but still have a lot to work on...

Boiling Crab

Last night Kato treated Janet, Derek, and I to boiling crab. It was my first time going and it was delicious! When you order, you first pick the type of seafood which range from shrimp and craw fish to dungeons crab and lobster. Then you pick the flavor which consist of rajun cajun, lemon & pepper, garlic butter, or the whole shebang. And lastly it's a matter of "how spicy can you go?", it ranges from nonspicey to XXX. The restaurant setup is very interesting because there are no plates or utensils. They bring you your order in a plastic bag (services are 1 lb). You eat and discard the shells on the table and at the end of the meal they come and just rip off the paper "table cloth" and put on a new one. Kato and I both got the shrimp while Janet and Derek got the craw fish. Boiling Crab is pretty popular and if you go for dinner it's generally a 2 hour wait but luckily we got there around 4 and we finished around 6:30. After going you can expect to smell like shrimp for the rest of the day/night. SOOO YUMMY! I'll definitely be going back sometime soon.

Adam

I recently watched Adam which was a film about a guy with asperger's syndrome. The illness pretty much making him socially inept and throughout the story you watch this relationship between him and this cute chick who moves in next door develop. The first time I came across this film was sitting through previews waiting for 500 Days of Summer (Zooey Deschanel Drool*) to begin and it caught my interest. I was planning on watching it when it came out to theaters but when it did come out I just never seemed to have the time to go watch it. But eventually the task has been completed. The movie has a similar structure to 500 Days of Summer with certain exceptions pertaining to the plot. But it goes something along the lines of: guy meets girl, guy like girl and girl likes guy, they get in a relationship, shit happens and they break up, time goes by and they're okay. I guess the underlining message of it all is being okay in the end a good thing, but that doesn't necessarily make the most interesting ending to a story. I want to know what happens after. I want more of a conclusion, but I guess one should appreciate the honesty of the film.
Nevertheless Adam is a well made film with a few unexpected laughs and soundtrack of low-fi songs and original scores. It was definitely an interesting watch, I suggest you go check it out!

Davis, California

Tyler and I went to Davis for the weekend to kick back and visit some friends we haven't seen in a while. We took the amtrack here on a Friday afternoon and we're leaving today (Sunday). I spent the first half of my trip with Sarasa and she showed me the college life. Many people give UCD a bad rep but honestly its a very cool place to go to school. According to Sarasa UCD has the biggest campus within the UC system. I'm pretty sure UCSD has the biggest campus and she's only saying that b/c she wants to build up Davis. But everyone at UCD ride bikes around to get to class so I guess that's a good indicator of the school size. The school is located in quaint agricultural town and in a way this place reminds me of Cupertino. It's a very serene place to live where nothing crazy really goes on and people are okay with that. They prefer it. If you want to go to a college that has a peaceful surrounding where you can focus on school then look no further.
On Saturday Sarasa took me to the local farmers market with her roommate Michele and friend Alberto. It was fun enjoying all sort of samples. Some of the fruits I had there definitely couldn't be found at a local supermarket in Cupertino. They were so fresh and yummy. Many UCD students come here to buy a little something to keep in their dorm to munch on during the week. After the farmers market we went to go pick up stuff for Sarasa's 10K run. Go Sarasa! On the way there we wandered into an art gallery and peeked around there. The spoon art seemed to be a favorite among Sarasa and Michele. I spent the remainder of the day with Sarasa and we had dinner. After dinner we lounged around and reminisced old times; it was nice seeing her. It's always nice talking to an old friend you haven't seen in a while. I think Davis is good for her and she's surrounded by good company who'll take care of her.
Today is Sunday and I'm sitting here typing this as everyone else is getting up recovering from the night before. I think the plan is to hang out a while more at Varun/Kyle's and they'll drop us off at the train station later in the afternoon. This trip was a success and I hope to come back and visit again sometime soon.
